SIXTY.

Hello! Sorry about how rubbish I've been at blogging and commenting just lately, I've literally been so busy I've not had time to breathe! Well, almost.

As most of you (probably) already know, I spent Wednesday and Thursday of this week (last week? Wednesday & Thursday just gone anyway!) on work experience at BBC Radio 1 and honestly I had the best time ever, it was so, SO good. I didn't want it to end and I kind of want to just quit my job and work there forever.

I was shadowing Beccy off The Scott Mills' Show and so I got a huge insight into what goes on behind the scenes, how both DJs and producers put shows together, how the music that's played on-air is chosen along with meeting a fair amount of people, both famous & not so famous, who work there. Everybody was so nice to me, making me feel incredibly welcome, which to be completely honest, surprised me a little bit because I was quite apprehensive about going, thinking that the people who worked there would be stupidly pretentious and would be ridiculously far up their own arses because they work for such the most popular radio station in such a massive company but they weren't which made a huge difference from when I was on work experience at one of my local radio stations back in June.

I was sat by Scott for the entirety of both his shows while I was there, I went and saw one of the Edinburgh try-outs, I sat in while the Posh Radio 4 Lady recorded 'Dear Scott...', I went onto Stupid Street with Smooth Talking Dan, I met Chris Moyles and team, Greg James and team, Dev and team, Fearne Cotton and team along with loads of other people. I can't actually explain how much of a good time I had! (This probably won't make any sense if you've never listened to Radio 1 by the way!)

Anyway, this is turning into a bit of a pointless ramble so here's a few photos I took while there..

Right, I know this is a rubbish post but I'm tired but I felt bad for not updating for a while. I promise to catch up on everybody's blogs over the next few days! :)

FIFTY NINE.

As you may or may not, I am on the hunt for the perfect foundation to suit my incredibly inter-changeable and annoying skin type. In the past I've used different ones from MAC, No7, The Body Shop, Clinique and Chanel. The latter being what I thought was 'the one', until I came across this Esteé Lauder beauty! I'm not going to be as assuming with this one though because it's still possible that I find one that beats this, but up until now this is definitely my number 1.

As I said with the Chanel one, it goes on lovely - both when using my fingers or a brush, it has heavy coverage which is the number 1 thing I look for in a foundation (I got tested at a Bobbi Brown counter for both liquid and stick but was suitably unimpressed by both simply due to the lack of coverage they both appeared to give). I actually picked this one by chance, I was stood at the counter looking at perfume and the lady came over and asked if I wanted any help and I found myself asking about foundation.

To be completely honest, I was swayed by the fact she said it lasts 15 hours - I was skeptical at first, as I'm sure most people are, because what foundation lasts that amount of time? Well, I was wrong to assume they were lying because... IT DOES! Even after that epic 16 hour shift (which yes, I will mention at every given opportunity) I still looked half decent, even if I do say so myself, and if you minus the smudged eyeliner and the smudged mascara, my foundation was still in tact, just as I was promised.

It stays put on nights out, even on hangover days which is surprising to say the least because for some unbeknown reason my make up always disappears after about an hour when I'm hanging! I'd definitely give it a good 9/10 and it's more than worth the £24.50 that I paid for it.

FIFTY EIGHT.

I'm not normally one to over-praise specific make-up brands, but for the first time ever I'm going to. I would just like to express my amazement at how fantastic and how pleased I am with Benefit's Smokin' Eyes palette. I bought it at the end of July 2009 from Selfridges and it's still going strong. I have only just made a hole in the bottom of the two eyeshadows and that's after using it at least once a day, sometimes more depending on what I was doing. And, I do like my eyes quite black so I use quite a bit of each shadow each time too. I'm literally so impressed with it, I think it could well be the best £27.50 I've spent on a single item! I'm not sure I could recommend it anymore than I already do. Will definitely be purchasing another if/when my current one runs needs replacing.

FIFTY SEVEN.

I don't know about you lot, but I for one love nothing more than receiving parcels in the post; between you and me, I've often bought stuff off the internet in hope I'll forget about it and be all surprised when it finally pops through my letterbox! So, I'm sure you can only imagine my happiness when I crawled in from work after an epic 16 & ½ hour shift (at McDonald's, of all places!) to find a jiffy envelope sat on the kitchen side with my name on it.

Inside was a book and a card, the card read:

To my little love peanut,

I'm halfway through this book myself and I totally love it! Think you will too!

Love you lots, Amy xx (P.S it'll help you unwind after a long shift)

Kind of appropriate, no? Anyway, the book the accompanied the card was this one:
The Goddess Experience by Gisele Scanlon. To be 100% honest I thought it was a notebook at first simply because the cover is so beautiful! But then I opened it and flicked through in complete awe at the amazing decoration of each individual page and the way they were laid out. I began reading and was literally gripped from the first page.

It's basically a book of tips - a guide to all things in life that Gisele loves, all of which are somewhat similar to things I love and I'm sure a lot of you girls would love too! She speaks of her experiences in Paris, her dining out at the Laudrée (and her curiosty gets the better of her as she asks why people queue for hours for their macaroons), her quest for a classic quilted Chanel 2.55, as well as her collection of favourite recipes that she's perfected over the years. I'm only 50 pages in but I already don't want it to end - apparently I have an exclusive interview with Viv Westwood to look forward to! It's written in such a casual and conversational form it could almost be my own diary from the future that I'm re-reading. Well, I wish anyway... except her hunt for the perfect cuppa unless my taste buds develop over the next few years !

One of the rave reviews I read for it said this: "Whatever kind of Goddess you are, you're sure to find inspiration on every page of this beautifully packaged, sumptuously designed book, guaranteed to bring Goddess magic into every life." And I couldn't agree anymore.

It's not a new book by any means (although it may well have been republished with a new cover this year..) but I actually DEMAND that you all order yourselves a copy right now! I know that you'll all love it.

FIFTY SIX.

Girls (and possibly boys), today I finally learnt that good things DO come to those who wait, quite literally.
